From 22 to 25 November, the ninth "CIETAC Cup" moot Arbitration Competition (WILLEM C. VIS Moot international Competition) was held in Beijing. CUPL team, under the guidance of Mrs. Dong Jingbo, after fierce competition, won the third place; Liu Zibo (undergraduate from School of Law) won best Debater Award in general round, 1 / 4 finals and 1 / 2 finals, Chen Pan (undergraduate form College of Criminal Justice) won the " special Contribution Award", this is the best result ever since CUPL participated in this event.
"CIETAC Cup" Moot Arbitration Competition is held by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission ("CIETAC"). Participators include Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science, University of International Business and Economics, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University, East China University of Political Science and other 17 universities. After three days of intense court hearing in general round, CUPL team got the 2ndplace. Then in 1 / 4 finals and 1 / 2 final, the performance of CUPL Team continued to excel.
The competition was organized by Mrs. Dong Jingbo. Players are Chen Pan, Fu Wenyao, Lin Zan, Xu Liwen, Jin Shuangshaung, Xiang Fangfang, Hu Yupeng, Wan Jiaxin, Zhang long, Huang Cheng, Cheng Dewei, Liu Zibo. Liu Zibo (undergraduate student), Cheng Dewei (undergraduate student) represented the school in English oral argument; all students took part in the preparations of memos. The moot case involves both procedural and substantial problems, such as delayed delivery in CISG.
In the general round, CUPL team faced the Foreign Affairs College, Sichuan International Studies University team, Wuhan University, Dalian Maritime University team, with excellent performance, and won the second place, easily entered for the national quarterfinals. In 1 / 4 final and 1 / 2 final, CUPL Team faced Beijing Foreign Studies University Team and Renmin University Team. The fluent, logical arguments and excellent teamwork left the arbitrators and judges a deep impression. Narrowly defeated by Renmin University, CUPL Team won the third place.
Si-Law attaches great importance to the game, Dean Professor Mo Shijian, Vice President Professor Zhang Liying gave direct support and guidance. Through the joint efforts and hard work, CUPL team gained outstanding achievements and enhance the influence of CUPL in the field of moot competition.
