THE STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
BETWEEN
JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY
AND
CHINA UNIVERSITY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND LAW
I. Number of Exchange Students
Two (2) exchange students for each semester.
II. Selection of Participants
Participation in the Student Exchange Program (hereinafter refer to Program) is limited to those students: a) Undergraduate students; b) Postgraduate coursework students.
III. Qualifications 1. All candidates must have completed at least one year of law studies at CUPL prior to participation in the Program and have strong academic standing. 2. If taking courses with English language requirements, all candidates must have suitable levels of language ability for the study of such subjects at JCU.
All candidates should submit the IELTS test scores as evidence of their English language proficiency to Faculty of International Law (IELTS scores are only valid for 2 years from the test date):
The minimum overall score for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) should be 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5).
JCU has been advised by Australian Immigration Department that students under a non-award visa subclass 575 from China will require an IELTS score for their temporary visas. IV. Application
The Semester 1 (academic period from Aug to Dec) in 2009 will begin on 28 July, so the candidates who wish to participate in the Program must submit all the application documents to the Faculty of International Law, CUPL before 10 April, 2009.
Please note: The applicants could download the application form from the website. Each applicant will need to complete the attached study abroad application form along with official certified copies of your academic transcripts including translations as well as English language proficiency (certified copies of the original test). Once your application is complete please forward all documents to us. As we are running out of time for processing applications for next semester and visas for Chinese students studying in Australia are currently taking about 8-12 weeks to process, make sure you have included all required documents before sending your application to the Faculty of International Law, CUPL so that we can process the applications promptly.
V. Fees and Expenses
1. No tuition fees will be charged by JCU. The exchange students shall be responsible for meeting the following costs and expenses at JCU: a) housing and meals; b) transportation to and from JCU; c) medical insurance or services; d) textbooks and program materials; e) clothing and personal needs; f) passport and visa costs; and g) all and any other debts incurred whilst at JCU.
2. Exchange Students will be required to provide evidence of sufficient funds for accommodation and other personal expenses during their stay at JCU.
3. The accepted Exchange Students could be supported by a sum of money donated by Golden Eagle Corporation.
